When I first arrived at Project Samuel I met a lot of children within those first few months. Many of them were from the surrounding community but none as close as Modrine and his brothers. They were our nearest neighbors and lived with their grandparents and mother. The conditions that Modrine and his family lived in were very poor and many times he and his brothers were left to fend for themselves. They would often resort to stealing to access food and money for school fees. It’s crazy to imagine that even under those conditions, one would be concerned about school.
About a year ago, Modrin’s mom passed away and since then, him and his brother’s living conditions have worsened. It’s hard to imagine that the conditions they were living in could get much worse. This past month, Project Samuel was able to bring Modrine, Lavential, and Gift to live on site with our other children. It was an exciting time as I got to see us gain the opportunity to change their lives through Project Samuel.
This past Sunday, Brother Eddie McFalls out of Church of the Crossroads was speaking at our local church and when he finished, Modrine was one of the first to respond. As Brother Eddie was praying for Modrine, he began to weep and we got to witness Modrin’s life begin to change. Project Samuel is going to continue working with him as his walk with Christ grows and I can’t wait to see the young man that he grows up to be.
We want to thank everyone for your prayers and support. It is much needed as we continue to work in the lives of the children and people around Project Samuel.
