For the last 3 months I’ve been having the most amazing time interning at Project Samuel Zambia! Throughout the internship I’ve been involved in many different areas of ministry at the project and in the local community. The majority of my time has been spent doing lots of tutoring here at the project, leading a weekly Bible study for the girls, leading and teaching at the project’s Saturday program for the kids in the community, teaching a grade 12 English class at the local school, and doing some other outreach in the community.
Having some new young children at the project has been so fun as I ’ve gotten to spend lots of time tutoring them. We’ve taken a room in the training center and made it into a colourful and bright classroom to learn our ABC’s in. It’s been so wonderful to see how far they’ve come in just a few months! Along with the tutoring at the project, I’ve been spending time teaching at the local school. Being thrown right into the grade 12 English class was intimidating at first but has definitely been a crazy new fun experience.
Every Wednesday has been such a highlight as I have been leading a Bible study with all the girls at the project. Through the weeks we’ve talked about a whole variety of topics from a biblical perspective. There’s been so much good discussion and its really grown my relationship with these girls. It’s been so cool to have them open up, ask so many questions and connect with them on a deeper level. As well, every Saturday we’ve started to invite lots of the younger children from the local community to come join us at the project. With the help of Judy, we’ve lead games, songs, and short Bible studies every Saturday afternoon.
This whole internship has been such a blessing. Through this time, I’ve really felt God’s presence and joy through spending time and working with all these kids and the community. God’s voice has been so clear and so good through everything I’ve gotten to be involved in here. I had really felt the Lord put it on my heart that there was more here in Zambia for me and so I’ve decided to extend my internship for another few months and I can’t wait to see what God does with the rest of my time here. It really has been such an amazing opportunity and experience.
