As I walk from garden to field to chicken house to training center to aquaponics to mission’s house checking on all the jobs going on here at Project Samuel, there is one girl I can count on to check up on me. In the distant, I can here, “uncle Brenden! Uncle Brenden!!” I say, “yeeees?” “Um uh what uh are you umm doing?”
I find great joy in being apart of the lives of these children. I remember the first time I saw little Hilda’s face. She was, to say the least, uncomfortable with the transition from her village to Project Samuel. Although she was scared, she was the bravest little girl I have ever seen fit into a size 5 shoe.
Today, now that we are “family”, Hilda comes out of church as we fall into line and she finds me and stands next to me and holds my hand as I greet the other members. She reminds me everyday what it means to be here and what I have to offer. Hilda, just like all the other kids in Zambia and at Project Samuel, need to experience the love of Christ.
All of us can do that. Yes, YOU!!! can show that love. You can show Christ’s love to the neighbor next door, the kids at school, the people at work or the guy in prison. Everywhere around us are opportunities to show the love of Christ.
Go find your “Hilda”. Go find all those who need Christ’s love.
